My Key Terms


STD- Sexually transmitted disease ( can be treated )

STI- Sexually transmitted Infections ( can not be treated)

Genital Warts- warts occurring in the genital and anal areas and spread mainly by sexual contact, sometimes affecting the cervix in women and associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer.


HPV- (human papillomavirus) Any of various strains of papovavirus that cause warts, especially of the hands, feet, and genitals, with some strains believed to be a causative factor in cancer of the cervix, vagina, and vulva.

Herpes- Any of several viral diseases causing the eruption of small blister like vesicles on the skin or mucous membranes, especially herpes simplex or herpes zoster.

Awareness- having knowledge; conscious; cognizant: aware of danger.

Symposium- a meeting or conference for the discussion of some subject, esp. a meeting at which several speakers talk on or discuss a topic before an audience.

Abstinence- any self-restraint, self-denial, or forbearance.

Prevention- the act of preventing; effectual hindrance.

Treatment- an act or manner of treating.
